Intelligent Speed Assistance/Intelligent Speed Adaption
How does it work?
Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) is mandatory in new cars sold in the EU as of July 2022. ISA uses a forward-facing camera and satellite navigation to identify speed limits and restrict fuel flow to the engine if the limit is exceeded, gently and progressively slowing the vehicle. The system is overridable, and drivers can cancel it at any time. Research indicates that using ISA causes motorists to drive more slowly, potentially preventing one-fifth of road deaths. The system has been well-received by 95% of buyers and is especially useful in built-up areas, average speed zones, and areas with changing speed limits.
